Women Resource 4.0 – potential of qualified women, including immigrants, for Industry 4.0
The transfer objective of the „Women’s Resource 4.0“ project is to make better use of the potential of qualified STEM women, with and without immigration history, for shaping digitization and Industry 4.0 in companies and organizations. The research objective of the project is to differentiate specific competences of women in the context of digitization.
In order to shape the digital transformation and Industry 4.0 in Germany and secure the long-term competitiveness of the country, specific knowledge resources and competence of employees and executives are required above all. In this context, the growing shortage of skilled labor is becoming a problem, as there are considerable bottlenecks, especially in the mechanical and automotive engineering professions, mechatronics, automation and electrical engineering, as well as in computer science and software development.
In order to counteract these negative developments, it is necessary to increase the participation of women, older people and persons with a migrant background as a suitable measure within the labor market. In addition, women – with or without a migrant background – can bring a new perspective and specific skills for shaping digitization.
The Women Resource 4.0 project meets these challenges by targeted promotion and sensitization of women and companies. As part of a three-part workshop series, the participants of their own talent pool learn about methods and specialist information from the field of digitization and Industry 4.0 and, in addition, will have the opportunity to network with potential employers in the OWL region. A virtual learning room offers the opportunity to deepen and test your own knowledge.

Workshop Women Ressource 4.0
In parallel with the research transfer, studies will be carried out to answer the following research questions:
- What added value do specific skills of women in STEM fields provide for digitized companies and Industry 4.0?
- What specific requirements are placed on STEM specialists in companies through digitization?
- Which of these requirements have gender- and culture-specific components?
- To what extent do the potentials of women specifically help to fulfill these requirements?
- To what extent do the requirements in companies / organizations coincide with those in the context of digitization?
What are the expectations of STEM graduates with and without a migration background? - Which specific skills do executives need in relation to Industry 4.0 and which of these competences are gender- and culture-dependent?
The design of Industry 4.0 and digitization and the emergence of innovations is only possible by incorporating all talents, perspectives and competences in the company. Therefore, increasing diversity through increased recruitment of women, with and without a migrant background, is a key competitive factor in STEM areas.
By better tapping into the potential of qualified STEM women (with and without immigration history) for shaping digitization and Industry 4.0 in companies and organizations, the research project thus makes an important contribution to the economic future of Industry 4.0 companies in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Transferability:
The core of the Transferkonzetes in the research project Women Resource 4.0 is, in addition to an Industry 4.0 Taster, a three-part workshop series at the STEM for women with and without a migration background to be qualified for tasks in the digitized workplace and can also network with representatives from the corporate practice. In the process, the participants learn about the digital transformation and its effects on the working world, playfully develop business models and, in addition, can expand and test their knowledge in a virtual learning room. In addition, within the framework of a World Café format, they can inform themselves about company entry opportunities and discuss current topics.
The events are designed so that they can be transferred to other institutions such as universities, colleges and other educational institutions at any time in the corporate context.

Qualified STEM women with and without a migrant background are being trained with focus on digitization. Career developments are individually and sustainably supported by discussions and qualification measures. Networking with company representatives gives you access to the job market. On the other hand, company representatives are made aware of the special potential of STEM women through workshops, talks and conferences. This approach ensures the sustainable success of the research project Women Resource 4.0 through holistic training and sensitization of all stakeholders.
